Joint Workshop of TRANSFER WP 5-7-8
on Numerical Models, Inundation Maps and Test Sites

On June 12-14, Fethiye, Turkey

2nd ANNOUNCEMENT

1. PREFACE:

In the memory of late Prof. Howell Peregrine who had such a close interest in WP5 and has given invaluable discussions during our kickoff meeting and also by e-mails afterwards. His memory, scientific enterprise, vigor, guidance and humanity will always remain within all participants in WP5

2. INTRODUCTION

This work package will strive to improve and make models more widely applicable and obtain effective interaction between them. The WP will also cover bathymetric data processing, development of new computational tools including possibly additional tsunami for parameters and also understand the effects of dispersion, friction, resolution requirements, and enhancement of accuracy by adaptive mesh refinement or nested modeling. The aim is to achieve high quality standardized models in Europe in TRANSFER, and thus benefit the TRANSFER http://www.transferproject.eu test sites in Europe, and hopefully additional sites in Europe and other world coastlines.

Participation of WP5, WP7 and WP8 Partners of TRANSFER are essential for the Workshop. The participations of other partners are optional and they are welcome.
